Educare is one of the few NATED courses for which you need a Matric Certificate (National Senior Certificate) in order to study. Educare is ranked as a National Accredited Trade Educational Diploma, which ranges from N4 to N6 and includes the Educare: NATED N6 National Diploma.

This programme is offered by FET, TVET, and Private Colleges, either face-to-face or through distance learning.

Course Entry Requirements – If you are looking to study for a National Certificate: N4 Educare, the only requirement is a National Senior Certificate.

How Can I Then Study Educare If I Do Not Have A Matric?

https://bellview.edu.za/senior-certificate/If you have your heart set on studying Educare then there is an educational alternative to follow. If you do not have a Matric Certificate, and if you are 21 years old or older then you qualify for the Amended Senior Certificate.

The Amended Senior Certificate, also known as an Adult Matric Certificate, is designed to bypass the issue being that they did not complete or failed their matric exams in the year-end examinations. This can be achieved by completing on of the following criteria, rewriting your Matric, Upgrading your matric or doing an Adult Matric course.

The DHET developed the Adult Matric programme to allow the students who never got their Matric Certificate, a second chance at getting a certificate that carries the same educational value to the National Senior Certificate.

How Does The Amended Senior Certificate Work?

As developed by the DHET, this certificate program is aimed at anyone aged 21 and older who wants to complete a certificate that is equal to a National Senior Certificate.

The Adult Matric and the traditional Matric Certificate are both offered, awarded and issued by Umalusi. The certificates are basically the same.

When completing your Adult Matric Program it is recommended that you do so in 12 to 24 months. This will give you enough time to study and prepare for the exams that you need to write to get your Certificate.

The Amended Senior Certificate is at the same NQF Level as a traditional Matric Certificate which is NQF Level 4.

Qualifying Criteria

This is the essentially needed criteria for you to successfully apply for the Amended Senior Certificate:

A Grade 9/Standard 7 School Report/Certificate, or
A certificate that is equivalent to a grade 9 certificate (like ABET level 4), or
A matric result indicating that you did not complete or pass your matric year, and
Your ID indicating that you are 21 years or older, on the day you write your exams
